2010/2011 : Independent Expert on the Situation of Human Rights in Burundi, appointed by the United Nations Human Rights Council (Geneva). Monitoring of the human rights situation in Burundi, encouraging dialogue between the Government of Burundi and political partners and civil society, assisting the Government in capacity building in the context of a peace building process (reform of the justice and penitentiary system, establishment of the transitional justice mechanisms provided for by the Peace and Reconciliation Agreement for Burundi, signed in Arusha on 28 August 2000.
